NebraskaLink Expands Fiber Optic Network Throughout Lincoln

October 7 Lincoln, Neb. — NebraskaLink, a Nebraska-based Broadband transport service provider for businesses, announced that they are further expanding their fiber optic network throughout the city of Lincoln.

NebraskaLink entered into an agreement with the City of Lincoln in February, 2013 to lease the city’s fiber optics conduit grid. The initial construction consisted of burying approximately 20 miles of fiber optic lines throughout the City. After recently securing financing from Union Bank and Trust, the company will bury an additional 40 miles of fiber by the end of 2014, with additional growth planned in 2015.

“A robust fiber optic network is essential to the growth and development of Lincoln’s businesses,” said David Young, Lincoln City Fiber Infrastructure and Right of Way Manager. “The Lincoln Broadband Infrastructure allows us to work with new companies like NebraskaLink to ensure Lincoln businesses remain competitive and have access to the same broadband products and services which are routinely offered in much larger and more urban metro areas. We are excited for the opportunities this allows for existing businesses to expand and in attracting new businesses to the area.”

NebraskaLink fiber-optic lines are buried along many major streets of Lincoln bringing direct access to the doorsteps of many businesses. When businesses connect to the NebraskaLink fiber network they gain access to fast, reliable and redundant broadband for their data transport and management needs. “NebraskaLink strives to make reliable broadband access solutions available to businesses of all sizes, as well as public sector, education, telecommunications, banking, and healthcare organizations,” stated NebraskaLink CEO, Mark Shaw. “We are pleased to partner with the City’s progressive leaders and we appreciate their commitment to making this advanced technology available in Lincoln.”

NebraskaLink recently signed a ten-year lease commitment and relocated to 3900 NW 12th St.
